1956 RANCH - MCM BATHROOM REMODEL

Take a look at our 1956 Ranch primary bathroom remodel. We went classic, colorful MCM, inspired by the pink tile from the 1950’s that originally adorned the shower walls. We opted for a classic 2x2 matte white mosaic tile with a soft pink grout that matches the walls of the room. We love the subtle but bold use of color to transform the white tile. We complemented the soft sunset pink with smokey blues, burnt sienna’s, and rich golden oak wood on the vanity, built-in storage, and floating shelves. All of the fixtures are aged brass with a few concrete elements for texture and a quartz counter that offers a subtle nod to terrazzo.

We built the custom white oak vanity to fit the small space perfectly, maximizing internal storage and functionality by converting their counter-mount sink to 2x wall-mount faucets & 2x vessel sinks. The vanity has 6x solid wood soft-close drawers. The custom storage built-in is also built with white oak and offers 3x extra deep soft-close drawers and 2x open shelves that run the length of the wall. Above the toilet we opted for custom white oak shelves and solid oak dowels for the brackets.

The mirrors are custom ordered and painted in a smokey sky blue to match the Verner Panton flowerpot pendant above the toilet which is on it’s own switch for accent lighting. We wanted to textiles to focus on burnt sienna, so you’ll see the bathmat, towels and shower curtain all favor that color adding depth and richness to the pink bathroom.
